Below is an excerpt from my travel blog. Cheers.

I went up to the Mall Area in New York City’s Central Park yesterday to capture some of fall color starting to happen in city. The wide sidewalk here is lined with the American Elm Tree. These trees are grand, with large, erratic branches that look and act like the Octopus Tentacles from 1000 Leagues Under the Sea. (Remember that ride at Disney World? – Ha, I’m getting old). The leaves all change in harmony in this area of the park because it’s the only tree around, making for a postcard-like shot. I was even able to capture the famous sidewalk with no tourists and vendors present because of the rain we had yesterday.

On a camera/technical note: I was annoyed to discover that my Canon 24mm-105mm, image stabilizer sometimes causes my photos to be more blurry than without it. I checked my focus quite closely on the spot while taking this shot and ran it with and without the stabilizer. The stabilizer definitely blurred the background when I turned it on. That’s frustrating.
